Margarita Hernández León received her Licensure in Law at the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, México in 1999. She presented her dissertation in International Law and she was the only student of her class who presented a thesis as part of her final examination for her Bachelor’s Degree in Law or J.D.  She also obtained a Master Degree in Law for Foreign Attorneys in 2007 at the University of Houston.


As a guest for Primera Edición and Vive La Mañana programs at Univision, she 

answered questions and updated crucial information to the community on immigration issues. Ms. Hernández has being interviewed by Telemundo, local radio stations, Semana News and by Univision for special investigations.


She is an active volunteer for NALEO Educational Fund participating in Citizenship workshops and other local projects. She has also participated as a speaker in Immigration topics for various community forums such TOP- Texas Organization Project, Neighborhood Centers Inc., Fe y Justicia, Workers Centers, etc.


Ms. Hernández had the opportunity to be a member of the Board of Directors of the United Nations Association, Houston Chapter, a member and a volunteer of Susan G. Komen, Child Advocates, Inc., and other non-profit organizations.


On the other hand, Ms. Hernandez graduated from the Theater School, Faculty of Fine Arts of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León in 1998 and participated in various plays in Monterrey, México. She performed at National Theatrical Festivals. She participated as a speaker in theatrical and play-writing topics. Besides adapting and writing plays and poetry, she participated in different projects designing lighting, direction and production. In Houston, in different occasions, she participated in various radio programs sharing her poetry and narratives. She also took several continuing education piano and opera courses at the Rice University and University of Houston. 


As a pet mom and lover, Ms. Margarita has volunteered for the Houston SPCA. She is also a member of the SGI USA, Soka Gakkai International, which is a lay organization that promotes peace, culture and education through the Buddhism of Nichiren. She is a practitioner of Yang Tai Chi and Yang Sword styles under the direction of Sifu Julie Hudson.


Ms. Margarita has participated in several 5Ks supporting local and national non-profit programs. She also challenged herself at adventurous and extreme Roller-Coasters rides and extreme sports such as skydiving, paragliding, bungee jumping and rafting.
